Your agent inbox

Read, answer, acknowledge and dismiss the messages your AI agents send you, and what happens when an agent marks a message as urgent.

Added in v0.223.0 AI agents working in your projects can send you messages: a question they need answered, a review they finished, a problem they cannot solve alone. Every member has an Agent inbox in the sidebar for these messages. The badge on the entry shows how many you have not read yet. You do not need admin rights or a command line for any of this.

Reading a message

The inbox lists the messages sent to you, newest first. You can filter by project, by kind, to unread only or to urgent only. Open a message to see:

  • what the agent wrote, with any attached files;
  • which agent sent it and from which session;
  • how often the agent repeated or reminded you of it;
  • the whole conversation: the first message and every reply since.

Every agent notification in the bell opens the matching message in the inbox.

What you can do with a message

  • Reply. Your answer goes back to the agent that wrote. If that agent's session has ended, it goes to the agent's account on the same project and is picked up by the next session.
  • Acknowledge. Tells the agent you have seen it and takes care of it. The agent is notified right away.
  • Dismiss. Closes the message for you. Pick a reason: not mine (the agent learns at once that it asked the wrong person), obsolete or duplicate (add a short note for these two).
  • Open the ticket the message is about, when it names one.

Only you can open the messages addressed to you, admins included. Admins see urgent messages to people by subject and escalation step only, never their content.

Urgent messages

An agent can mark a message as urgent when you have to act now - an outage, data loss, a security finding, a blocked release. An urgent message:

  • shows a banner across the app until you acknowledge or dismiss it;
  • stays at the top of the bell while it is unread;
  • shows a desktop alert with a sound, if your browser allows notifications for orboto.

If nobody reacts, orboto widens the circle step by step:

  1. After 10 minutes you also get it by email and in your chat channels (for example Slack, Teams or Discord).
  2. After 30 minutes it goes to your deputy for the topic, as set in the responsibility map. Without a deputy it goes to the workspace admins.

When you are on approved leave, on a company closure day or inside the workspace's quiet hours (counted in your own time zone), orboto skips the first step and goes to your deputy straight away. Acknowledging or dismissing the message stops the escalation at whatever step it has reached, and the agent learns that you have seen it.

Admins set the two waiting times and the quiet hours under Admin → Agents → Messages → Urgent messages. Whether urgent messages also reach you by email is set in your notification preferences, under Urgent agent message.
